Glittery Ornaments

Sunday, December 2, 2012

Even though it's hot, I am trying to get into the Christmas spirit since it's December. It feels like time just flies by faster all the time and I can't even keep up! I wanted to make something pretty for my tree so I decided on some glittery ornaments. Now, glitter gets EVERYWHERE so that's why the glitter went inside the ornaments.

First of all, you're going to need to spread newspaper over your entire workspace because the glitter manages to get everywhere of course. Then you will need glitter, clear ornaments (I got mine from Michael's) and Pledge floor finish. I also had glitter glue in case I wanted to decorate the outside but I ended up just loving them the way they looked without it.

See how it gets everywhere? haha! So all you have to do is pour about a tablespoon of the floor finish into the ornament. While holding the hole closed, shake the ornament like crazy so it coats the entire inside. Then dump out the excess floor finish. Next, pour a generous amount of glitter inside and while holding the hole closed, shake it. Make sure there is a lot of glitter inside because you want it to be completely covered.

I ended up having to put more glitter in this one because there was a little patch that didn't really have much glitter on it.

This one looks like snow!

They look so pretty on the tree!

Can you tell that this one is my favorite?! It looks like Barbie!

This is how the whole tree looks! It's the most beautiful at night. I just love this tree because it's so girly and pretty!

And of course I had to snap a quick picture of my little prince by the tree! It's going to be my first Christmas with him. (More pictures to come of course!) I really thought he would climb the tree and destroy it, but he has been wonderful so far! He has only batted the ornament that is closest to the bottom and that's it. By the way, I have been under the weather lately with the flu or something and that's why I haven't been blogging. I haven't really felt like doing much of anything. But I am better now, so expect me to be blogging more frequently!

Pumpkin Carving

Tuesday, October 30, 2012

Went to the pumpkin patch to search for a gorgeous pumpkin to carve.

None were worth paying for! The cheapest was like 10 dollars and they all had some sort of blemish on them. So we decided to go to Winn Dixie and get a pretty one for only 3 dollars!!

All the pumpkin slime went into this pumpkin tin!

Here's my pumpkin all lit up at night! I decided to do a deer with some birds flying out of his mouth. HAHA!

And here is my pumpkin sitting next to Zack's! He carved a cool graveyard scene!

I love the shadows of the trees! I hope everyone has a safe and happy Halloween tomorrow!!

Cupcake Monday: Spiderweb Pumpkin Ginger Cupcakes

Monday, October 29, 2012

I decided it was time for some more fall cupcakes!

Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.

                                       Ingredients: 1 1/2 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
                                                           3/4 teaspoon baking powder
                                                           3/4 teaspoon baking soda
                                                           1/4 teaspoon salt
                                                           1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
                                                           1 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 cup butter, melted and cooled slightly
                                                           1 cup sugar
                                                           1 cup canned pumpkin
                                                           3 large eggs

Frosting:     1/2 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
6 ounces cream cheese, at room temperature
                                                         1 teaspoon vanilla extract
                                                         3 cups powdered sugar

Spiderweb:     1/4 cup of cream cheese frosting
                                                        1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
                                                        1 teaspoon whole milk

Sift the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and ginger into a medium bowl and set aside.

In a large bowl, using an electric mixer on low-medium speed, beat the melted butter, sugar , and pumpkin until smoothly blended. Then, mix in the eggs.

Fill each paper liner with a generous scoop of batter, to about 1/2 inch below the top of the liner. Bake just until the tops feel firm and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. About 25 minutes.

While they're cooling, you can make the frosting!

For the frosting: In a large bowl, using an electric mixer on low speed, beat the butter, cream cheese, and vanilla until smooth and thoroughly blended, about 1 minute. Stop the mixer and scrape the sides of the bowl as needed during mixing. Add the powdered sugar, mixing until smooth, then beat on medium speed for 1 minute to lighten the frosting further. For the spiderweb, mix 1/4 cup of the cream cheese frosting with the cinnamon and milk. Then put it in a piping bag and make 3 little circles on the top and use a toothpick to make lines through it.

And we're done! They have a really nice spiced flavor! I hope everyone had a nice Monday!

Nails : Keroppi

Tuesday, October 23, 2012

These nails were inspired by Keroppi! For those of you who don't know who he is, he's one of Hello Kitty's friends! For those of you who don't know who Hello Kitty is, YOU'RE MISSING OUT!

First, choose 3 shades of green and a base coat. You'll also need these nail guide stickers. (I will post a link of where you can find these below).

Then, put 1-2 coats of whatever color you want in the center. MAKE SURE THEY DRY COMPLETELY. This is important.

Then, place the strip on your hand before you put it on the nail so it isn't like super sticky to where it will peel the paint off. After that, put it in the center of the nail and press down so that there aren't any gaps. Paint the top part of the nail a different color.

Then paint the bottom half a different color and let it dry for a minute before slowly peeling off the sticker. Once they have completely dried, put a clear top coat on.

And we're done! My nails need some maintenance otherwise the stripes would have looked more straight haha! I need to file them. Oh and by the way, my blog template cuts off my pictures, so if you want to see them bigger, just click on them!

American Apparel-Hunter

My Day In Pictures

Saturday, October 20, 2012

I'm babysitting my brother's dawg, Pudge!

Zack got a fire started to burn some yard trash and the smoke looked cool with the sun's rays!

Pulled back some bark on a dead tree and found all sorts of stuff! These beetles were sneaky and there were tons!

This little gecko was under the bark too, along with some nasty grubs and termites.

Had a fantastic lunch! Greek Pizza : Kalamata olives, mozzarella, feta, tomato, spinach, and EGGPLANT. WUT.

MY BABY LOVES TO GET ON THE FRIDGE NOW. AW. He was putting on the charm..such a model.

After lunch, we went to the big antique store in High Springs and saw all sorts of cool junk! Look at all of these Barbies. Oh man!

Look how scary this dummy is.

I don't know what this is, I think it's a pot, but it has mushrooms on it so i'm sold.

Now i'm in my night clothes ready to watch something scary! Good night everyone!
